Queensland Travel Guide Overview

This large Australian state takes up the rest of the East Coast that isn't already claimed by Sydney's New South Wales and Melbourne's Victoria. Queensland has a few large cities anchoring in the packpacker trail: Brisbane lies just over the boarder from NSW and is the capital. Carins, in North tropical Queensland, is the gateway city to the great barrier reef. Other popular attractions like Fraser Island, the Whitsundays and Surfers Paradise also bring in the backpackers, anxious to escape the sometimes frantic city life of Sydney and Melbourne.
