Cairns Travel Guide Overview

Although not necessarily the most beautiful city in Australia, Cairns is a necessary evil if you’re wanting to head to the Great Barrier Reef. There isn't much to do in the city itself except swarm with the masses, but the topical rainforests are nearby, and the well-developed tourist infratstructure makes it just as easy to head out on land as it does on sea.
