British Columbia Travel Guide Overview

British Columbia is the westernmost province in Canada. It's a very mountainous area and a very large place. There are plenty of things to do here, no matter if you like to explore the cities or have an active vacation in the great outdoors.

What to do

Richmond is the home to the best example of Chinese tradition in North America. Here you can visit the International Buddhist Temple (for free).

If you like to explore the cities but want to take a nice break in nature, you should visit the city parks: Stanley Park in Vancouver, which happens to also be dotted with many historical sights,Butchart Gardens in Victoria and Capilano Suspension Bridge and Park in North Vancouver.

If you prefer to hike, try the West Coast Trail. Or if you are really looking for excitement, climb the Stawamus Chief in Squamish. Many other sports can be practiced such as kayaking, skiing or surfing.

Getting there

Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is the second busiest airport in Canada and receives the majority of traffic into the province, making it easy to find an affordable flight to Vancouver. Victoria, Cranbrook, and Kelowna also have international airports but they receive mostly traffic from Canada and/or US.

Where to stay

There are plenty of hotels in British Columbia and is especially easy to find good deals at hotels in Vancouver. The backpackers will be happy to know that the entire province is dotted with good hostels. You can find good places to stay in pretty much any city.
