With close to half of Alaska's population, Anchorage is center of commerce, activity and the art for the rest of the state. Although it's a city, the great thing about Anchorage is that it's still very much Alaska. It's not uncommon to see large animals wandering through the city center. It serves as a great base for many of the amazing dramatic sites around the countryside.
