San Jose Travel Guide
The Capital of Silicon Valley, San Jose, is the largest city in the Bay Area and is proud to have been named (for the 5th year in the row) the safest city in the US. Thanks to its location, the city is home to many High Tech Headquarters such as Ebay and Adobe.
What to do
Don't be amazed if we suggest The Tech Museum as one of the most important things to do in San Jose. It's home to many exhibits and plenty of them are interactive. If you want to explore your mysterious and paranormal side, make sure to tour Winchester Mystery House, a very interesting house with mazes, stairs which go nowhere and the place where weird things might happen.
Spooked already? Then take a walk Downtown. Parks, the farmer's market, offices, the City Hall, restaurants and shops are all waiting for you to explore. San Jose is known as an expensive place to live in so I'd hold the shopping spree.
There are many festivals and events taking place in San Jose. Every August, San Jose Jazz Festival takes place in Downtown, while Music in the Park and Music in the Other Park events take place weekly during summer in the same area. You can watch and listen to the concerts for free.
Getting there
If you are traveling to San Jose or to any place in the San Francisco Bay Area, there are three choices for you. One of them is the smallest airport in the area, Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC), but it's less crowded than the bigger ones and very popular among those who need to get outside San Francisco city area. There are plenty of flights to San Jose to choose from. The other two bigger airports of choice are Oakland and San Francisco.
If you need to park your car at the airport, you can save both time and money by paying for the San Jose airport parking on line and before you actually got to the airport. Or you can choose the San Jose airport shuttle for a fast and cheap ride to the airport and back.
Where to stay
There are plenty of places to stay in San Jose. No matter if you are looking for a budget accommodation or for a luxury hotel , the city has them all.
