Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Aberdares

Depart from Nairobi for The Ark or similar lodge. The Ark is situated in the Aberdare National Park, deep in the mountain. This unique lodge resembles a ship; overlooking a floodlit waterhole and saltlick which is visited by a variety of animals. Often seen here are the elephant, rhino and bushbuck. Occasionally a leopard or giant forest hog may be seen. Before driving to The Ark, lunch is taken at the Aberdare Country Club. Dinner and breakfast at the Ark or Campsite.

Day 2: Aberdares – Samburu

Leave The Ark after breakfast, to drive into Samburu passing through Isiolo, the gateway to “George Adamson’s” land of lions, reaching Larsen’s Tented Camp or similar by lunch time. Samburu is an open Savannah plan and in the vicinity of the Uaso Nyiro River. One can find the dik dik, rhino, buffalo, elephants, cheetah, leopard and lion. Unique to this area are the reticulated giraffe, Gravy’s zebra, the long-necked genernuk and the Beisa Oryzx, of course not forgetting the hippos and crocodiles in the river and a hundred different species of birds including the Somali ostrich. Dinner and overnight at a lodge/camp

Day 3: Samburu

Full day in Samburu National Reserve, with leisure break after lunch. Dinner and overnight at a lodge/campsite

Day 4: Samburu – Lake Nakuru

After breakfast, depart for Delamere camp, Lion Hill camp or similar. The Delamere camp is situated on the shoreline of Lake Elementaita in the Great Rift Valley. The Soysambu Wildlife Sanctuary is a private sanctuary, hosting thousands of lesser and greater flamingos and the only Great White Pelicans; plus a variety of other beautiful water birds. In Soysambu, one has the opportunity to view game while on foot and to watch undisturbed birds from strategically placed points. Nighttime game drives are available too, giving one the opportunity to view aardvark, African wildcat, civet, leopard and white-tailed mongoose. All meals at a lodge/campsite

Day 5: Lake Nakuru – Maasai Mara

Leave after breakfast and drive to the Sarova Mara camp or Sekenani or similar, situated in Maasai Mara; the richest game park in Kenya. Set up very naturally between two streams, the Sarova Mara Camp gives you the opportunity to view a wide selection of wildlife such as lion, elephant, cheetah, leopard, rhino, giraffe and buffalo. Sarova Mara Camp is surrounded by beautiful gardens and lawns, with an abundance of exotic colorful flowers; truly a sight for sore eyes. All meals are taken at a lodge/campsite.

Day 6: Maasai Mara

This day is spent exploring the Mara plains for predators and a visit to the Hippo Pool; of course not forgetting a view into the Serengeti plains across the Kenya/Tanzania border. All meals are taken at a lodge/campsite.
