Itinerary

1 - Arrive Kathmandu

Upon arrival, you will be met by our representative and transfer to hotel. After check into hotel, our guide will brief you on the itinerary.

2 - Kathmandu

Sightseeing tour of Pashupatinath temple, Baudhanath stupa and Kathmandu Durbar Square Pashupatinath temple: One of the most sacred Hindu shrines in the world. It is situated 5km east from city center. The richly ornamented pagoda houses the sacred Linga of Lord Shiva. Chronicles indicate its existence prior to 400 AD. Devotees can be seen taking ritual dips in the holy Bagmati River flowing beside the temple also a World Heritage Sites. Baudhanth Stupa: Baudhanath lies about 6km to the east of down town Kathmandu and is the largest stupa in the valley. It looms 36m high and presents one of the most fascinating specimen of stupa design. Boudhnath, a World Heritage site, is also known as “Little Tibet”. There are more than 45 Buddhist monasteries in the area. Kathmandu Durbar square: This complex of palaces, courtyards and temples, built between the 12th and 18th centuries used to be the seat of Malla kings of Kathmandu. The Durbar square, protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the social religious and urban focal point of the city. There are also several Museums inside the palace building

3 - Kathmandu

Sightseeing tour of Swayambhunath (Monkey temple) and Patan Durbar Square Swoyambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple): This is considered as oldest Buddhist stupa. Watches over the valley from the top of hillock on its western side. The stupa is one of the holiest Buddhist sites of Nepal. It’ establishment is linked to the creation of Kathmandu valley out of primordial lake. It’s listed in World Heritage site. Patan Durbar Square: Patan Durbar Square like its counter part in Kathmandu, is an enchanting mélange of palace building, artistic courtyards and graceful pagoda temples. The former Royal place complex is the center of Patan’s religious and social life and houses a museum containing an array of bronze statues and religious objects. One remarkable monument here is a 17th-century temple dedicated to the Hindu God Krishna built entirely of stone. It is listed on World Heritage site.

4 - Kathmandu / Lukla

It takes approximately 40 minutes to fly from Kathmandu to Lukla, the starting point. Today’s destination is Phakding. First, pass through the cluster of the lodges, bhattis and souvenir shops at the end of the airstrip. At the edge of the village there is a menda and you will see the typical scenery of the mountain village with terraced fields and houses of piled stones. Down below to the left is Caurikharka village with farm fields and houses scattered in the fields. The old road from Surke can be seen going through the village. In the back of the village, the Dudh Kosi, which Sherpas worship as the “sacred river” runs deep in the V shaped valley. You are going to climb along this river in order to go to Namche Bazaar. Mt. Everest B.C. is also situated at the head of this river.

5 -Phakding Namche Bazaar

Your destination today is Namche Bazaar. From Phakding, trek through the Pine and Cedar woods, cross the Ghatte Khola flowing from the left, climb up on the plateau and you are in Tokto which have five or six Bhattis. The course goes further into the woods and leads you to a lodge. You are still in Tokto. Continue through the woods overlooking the Dudh Kosi on your right. And Thamserku (6623m) will become visible shinning white far in the valley. Follow the path on sunny mountain flank, cross a small ridge and you will reach Benkar, which has about ten houses. Go through the village and cross over the suspension bridge to the left bank. The path enters the woods and after a little climbing, you will see a lodge. If you cross the stream, you will soon be in the village of Chumao. Continue on a little further and you will reach Monjo. There is a check post at the village entrance, where they will check your trekking permit.

6 - Namche Bazaar

This is a rest and acclimatization at Namche Bazaar.

7 - Namche / Tengboche

Today’s course to Tengboche will first go down about 250 m to the Dudh Kosi bank and climb up about 670m. It is tiring and you may start showing symptoms of altitude sickness. You are to pay attention to you physical condition and to be cautious about your actions. First, climb the east flank of the Namche bazaar and you will come to a col called Chhukung. On the way, there is a check post where they will check you trekking permit. This procedure can be done a day before. The path from Chhukung is level. The Dudh Kosi is far down below to your right and you will see Thamserku, Kantega (6799m), Ama dablam (6812m), Lhotse and Everest in front of you. This is spot is overwhelmingly beautiful.

8 - Tengboche / Khumjung

Khumjung is a pleasant village situated on the southern slopes of Khumbila and dominated by the beautiful mountain of Ama Dablam (6812m) which literally means ‘Mothers Charm Box’ and is named after the little box that Sherpa women wear around their necks. There is plenty to see or do within the village, including a visit to the Everest Bakery- a must for hungry trekkers! The village temple or gompa contains many traditional murals and thankas, and some fierce looking masks of demons. The Sherpa people of the Khumbu are firm believers in the existence of the yeti, and for a small donation the temple caretaker will allow you to see the last remaining yeti scalp in the region. There have been a number of reported sightings of this large human like creature in the Khumbu region.

9 - Khumjung / Phakding

From Khumjung we climb over the small ridge separating the village from Namche where we rejoin our outward route and descend to Phakding.

10 - Phakding / Lukla

This is a rest day

11 - Lukla

From Kathmanudu, transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day is leisure.

12 - Kathmandu

This is a sightseeing tour of Bhaktapur and Changunarayan, and then drive to Nagarkot Bhaktapur.

13 - Nagarkot-Kathmandu

Drive back to Kathmandu. Rest of the day at leisure for personal activities/shopping. In the evening, the clients will be taken to a typical Nepali Restaurant with local cuisine and folk dance.

14 - Departure

The clients will be driven to the airport for onward journey.
