Itinerary
Days 1-2 Quito
Dwarfed under the gaze of the Volcan Pichincha is Quito, the high altitude capital of Ecuador. Get a feel for this lovely rambling town on a guided walk to the city's main sights, including some of the 30 churches that dot the Old Town. Save some energy for an afternoon salsa class before trying out your new moves with the locals that evening.Days 3-4 Tigua
Join locals for a bus ride through rural Ecuador to an old rambling hacienda which will be our home for the next 2 nights. Get to know the family that runs the hacienda and maybe give them a hand with chores around the property. Take a jeep ride to Quilotoa Crater where you'll have the chance to stretch your legs on a downhill walk to lake in the centre of this dormant volcano.Days 5-7 Banos
High in the Ecuadorian Andes, this small town is an ideal place for a spot of outdoor adventuring. Whether you're in to hiking, biking or rafting, make sure you rise early to watch dawn creep over mountains from the town's famous hot springs.Days 8-9 Cuenca
Full of colonial elegance, Cuenca is one of Ecuador's most captivating towns. Wander along cobblestone streets admiring the red-tiled roofs, flower markets and shady plazas, explore museums and galleries or shop for a Panama Hat, which should probably be known as an Ecuador hat.Day 10-12 Puerto Lopez
Make yourself at home in this sleepy fishing town. Your time here is free to explore the nearby Machalilla National Park, the islands of Isla de la Plata and Isla Salango, or just watching local life go by on the beach. Watch on as locals take an evening promenade, fishermen mend their nets and the odd cow or two water along the shore.Day 13 Quito
Return once again to Ecuador's capital.Days 14-15 Mindo
Take the slow, gentle road to Mindo, a small town surrounded by the natural beauty of Ecuador's cloud forest. Hike through the forest, go swimming beneath waterfalls, try white water tubing and spot an amazing array of colourful birds.Days 16-17 Quito
Return to Quito for a final chance to explore this wonderful city and celebrate a fantastic Ecuadorian adventure.Trip Details
