Day 1 Rio de Janeiro
The city's main artery is the Avenida Presidente Vargas, starting at the waterfront and ending in a pleasant palm-lined avenue. There are plenty of sights to see along the street, so it's a great place to start exploring. In the evening, jazz or samba options abound.Days 2-3 Parati
Originally settled in 1531, and once a booming port town famous for its sugar cane liquor, Parati was all but forgotten after the abolition of slavery. Today it is a national monument and its cobblestone, pedestrian-only streets are a romantic place for a stroll. The water of the Bay of Parati is always just right for swimming and the surrounding national parks are brimming with wildlife, waterfalls and trails. The massive, misty falls of Iguazu are sure to take your breath away.
