Days 2-3 Mt Kinabalu
It's a tough trek to Laban Rata, at 3,300 m above sea level and with a pre-dawn start the following day, but sunrise at the summit and the spectacular views make it all worth it. There's nothing quite like standing atop South-East Asia's tallest mountain.
Day 4 Turtle Island
Witness the life cycle of giant green turtles and be touched by the incredible obstacles tiny hatchlings must overcome to make it to the sea.
Day 5 Sepilok Orangutan Reserve/Sukau
See Borneo's most endearing creatures - orangutans - in Sepilok before heading out on a boat in search of proboscis monkeys in Sukau.
Days 6-7 Kota Kinabalu
Venture into the cathedral-like caves of Gomantong, home to millions of bats and swiftlets, en route to Sabah's capital.
