Itinerary

Day 1 Kota Kinabalu

Flanked by sea and jungle, Sabah's capital is a great base for exploring the region's tropical beauty. Why not begin the adventure with a visit to the Abdul Rahman National Park where untouched jungle, white beaches and exotic marine life await?

Days 2-3 Kinabatangan Jungle Camp/Homestay

Trek into Sabah's lush interior to learn about forest restoration - keep an eye out for flying foxes, bearded boars and the funny faces of proboscis monkeys. Spend one memorable night letting the sounds of nocturnal creatures lull you to sleep before heading to a traditional Malay village for an overnight stay as a privileged guest.

Day 4 Sepilok Orangutan Reserve

Get up close with our primate relatives at Sepilok, where orphaned and injured orangutans are rehabilitated and returned to forest life. There's time here to stretch your legs on any of a many walking trails into the forest or head into thriving Sandakan for some excellent seafood and a waterfront sunset.

Days 5-7 Mt Kinabalu

The highlight of Sabah is also our adventure's highest point - literally - as we climb Mt Kinabalu. The mountain is also a botanical paradise with many unique plants and flowers dotting the landscape, including the carnivorous pitcher plant and over 1,000 species of orchid. At certain times of year, the rare Rafflesia flower might also be found - but your nose will surely detect it first.

Days 8-10 Kota Kinabalu

Enjoy a well-earned rest at the seaside guesthouse in Kinarut. Relax by the pool, explore the surrounding islands or catch a cab to Kota Kinabalu for a bit of shopping. We also head out to the beautiful Tunku Abdul Marine Park for a day of snorkelling.
