Itinerary

Days 1-2 Phnom Penh

Wide boulevards, lively wats and faded French architecture effects a warm welcome to the country's capital. Experience the richness of Khmer civilisation in the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda. Later, uncover a darker period of Cambodian history with a visit to S-21 and the infamous Killing Fields.

Days 3-5 Siem Reap/Angkor Wat

Explore the extraordinary ruins of Angkor and, with the help of a local guide, unravel the history behind each structure. Be sure to see the crumbling temples of Ta Prohm, tiny Banteay Srey and to catch the sunrise over world-famous Angkor Wat.

Days 6-7 Ho Chi Minh City

Vietnam's largest city is filled with vibrant sights and sounds. Dinner at a local restaurant is a delicious introduction to Vietnamese cuisine and a day trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels is a chance to experience Viet Minh life in wartime.

Days 8-9 Mekong Delta

Travel along the great Mekong and watch rural everyday life in the 'rice bowl' of Vietnam, a fertile region famous for its tropical fruits. Enjoy renowned Delta hospitality at a riverside homestay and head out early the next morning to visit the floating markets of Cai Be.

Days 10-11 Nha Trang

Head to Nha Trang for a relaxing sojourn on the shores of the South China Sea, starting with a cycle tour around town. Island-hop, swim, snorkel and sample the day's catch on an island boat trip. The harmonious mix of mountains, islands, sea and sand will have you totally relaxed in no time flat.

Days 12-14 Hoi An

Once a major trading port, Hoi An still retains a distinct old-world feel. The charming Old Quarter will delight, local cuisine is delectable and the skilful tailors can whip up a suit in no time.

Days 15-16 Hue

Enter the gateway to Vietnam's royal past and stroll through fragrant groves of frangipani and pine to the elegant tomb of Tu Duc, the last emperor of independent Vietnam.

Day 17 Hanoi

Pay respects to Uncle Ho at his imposing Soviet-style mausoleum and peruse the shops in the evocative Old Town, before taking in a magical water puppet performance.

Day 18 Halong Bay

A leisurely overnight cruise takes us over turquoise waters and soaring limestone peaks.

Days 19-20 Hanoi

Browse or buy lovely locally-made ceramics en route to Hanoi, where a final feast awaits. Hoan Kiem Lake reflects modern office buildings towering over old Buddhist temples and a tangle of ancient streets.
