Itinerary

Days 1-2 Hong Kong

Discover vibrant Hong Kong by exploring its many excellent museums, shopping up a storm at Stanley Market or taking the Star Ferry across the harbour.

Days 3-4 Guilin/Yangshuo

Travel to the storybook landscapes of Yangshuo. Learn about this region's gastronomic delights on a market walk and cooking class.

Days 5-6 Chengdu

Make a furry friend at a giant panda reserve. Visit the gardens and temples of Chengdu, perhaps taking time out in an atmospheric teahouse or attending a cultural performance.

Days 7-10 Yangzi River

Starting from Chongqing, take a relaxing cruise down the legendary Yangzi River, taking in the Three Gorges on the way to Yichang. Be sure to bring your camera - the scenery is spectacular.

Days 11-12 Xi'an

After an orientation walk, enjoy free time to discover historic Xi'an and then indulge in a tasty dumpling banquet. Visit the 6,000 life sized Terracotta Warriors and call in at a special local project for people with disabilities.

Days 13-14 Hangzhou

This beautiful city is renowned for its lake, temples, tea and cuisine. Spend an afternoon exploring the famous West Lake by boat.

Days 15-17 Shanghai

Discover Shanghai's many architectural styles - from art deco to ultra-modern - on an orientation walk. Call in at Shanghai Museum, which houses one of the best collections of Chinese bronzes, and be wowed by an evening performance of the Shanghai Acrobats.

Days 18-21 Beijing

Wander Tiananmen Square, see the Forbidden City and peaceful Temple of Heaven and stroll along the Great Wall. Celebrate the end of this adventure with a Peking duck feast.
