Itinerary
Days 1-2 Bangkok
Get to know your master photographer, Anthony Plummer and your fellow travellers over a delicious Thai dinner. Wake early the following morning to catch the spires of the Grand Palace gleaming in the sunlight. No visit to Bangkok is complete without a cruise along the khlongs, so board a longtail and have your camera ready and your tips from Anthony in mind, to capture riverside life.Days 3-4 Chiang Mai
Kick-start a cooking class with a visit to the vibrant local market, where multi-coloured curry pastes, vibrant vegetables and exotic fruits make spectacularly photogenic subjects. Alternatively, cycle to the atmospheric ancient temples of Wieng Kum Kam, stopping along the way to snap sites and local characters. Enjoy a traditional khan toke meal later, entertained by colourfully dressed tribespeople from Thailand's north.Day 5 Lampang
Get up close to gentle Asian elephants who love to have their picture taken, at the Elephant Conservation Centre. Anthony will give us an insight here into wildlife photography. There's an opportunity to ride one before we travel to the heart of hilltribe country for a H'mong cultural show and hearty barbeque dinner.Day 6 Sukothai
Practise your skills at portraiture in the hilltribe villages of Baan Meo Mae Khi and Baan Nong Hoi Mai. Then it's into the saddle to explore the evocative ancient capital of Sukhothai - a photographer's dream with its lotus ponds, Bodhi trees, royal and religious relics.Days 7-8 Kanchanaburi
Experience Buddhist culture first-hand at the annual Buddhist Elephant Ordination Celebration, where beautifully-decorated elephants carry white-robed novices to the worship at Wat Hat Siao. A saamlaw tour of Kanchanaburi takes us back in time, with stops at the Allied War Cemetery as well as at the infamous Bridge on the River Kwai.Day 9 Bangkok
Back in Bangkok, buy last-minute mementos before setting out in style for a cruise along the Chao Phraya River - a final chance to take photographs of the brightly-lit Grand Palace, the symbol of all things Thai.Trip Details
