Day 1 Bangkok

Day 2 Sukhothai

Ancient ruins and age-old temples dot this former capital. There's time to take in sunset over the rice paddies before checking into cosy rooms.

Day 3 Lampang

See the remains of Old Sukhothai from a saddle and stop for a picnic lunch along the way.

Day 4 Village Homestay

Enjoy an elephant ride through the forest before experiencing famous Thai hospitality at a village homestay.

Days 5-7 Chiang Mai

Bargain-hunt at the night bazaar or head to nearby hot springs for a revitalising soak.

Days 8-9 Bangkok

Discover Buddhist culture at Wat Arun before boarding a train south.

For trips starting May to Oct (East Coast)... Days 10-11 Ko Pha-Ngan

Visit tranquil fishing villages, swim in crystal-clear waters or enjoy a seafood barbeque in this island paradise.

Days 12-13 Ko Tao

Snorkel amongst colourful reefs or simply relax beneath swaying palms in this southern gem.

Days 14-16 Ko Samui

More white beaches, holy temples and wonderful waterfalls await. Ko Samui is also world-famous for its nightlife so show off your suntan at a bar or pub in the evenings.

For trips that run from Nov to April (West Coast)... Days 10-11 Krabi

There's a chance to enjoy a soothing traditional massage before taking a day trip to the islands of Phang Nga Bay for some snorkelling.

Days 12-13 Ko Yao Noi

A boat tour of the bay uncovers spectacular limestone cliffs and secluded places to sunbake.

Days 14-16 Phuket
