Cuba - Music and Dance

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive Havana

Arrive in Havana at any time.

Day 2-3 Santiago de Cuba

Catch a flight to Cuba's “Oriente” region and Santiago de Cuba, the heart and soul of Cuban music.

Day 4 Camagüey

Wander the historical streets of Camagüey, with its rich local tradition in both music and literature. There is often live music in the main square, or catch the bands at the Casa de la Trova.

Day 5-7 Trinidad

Travel west to the colonial city of Trinidad, a UNESCO World Heritage site and home to lovely Spanish-style churches and great museums. Have a cool Mojito before meeting our salsa and music instructors for our next two days of relaxed yet fun-filled lessons. We include a group salsa lesson here; once you are comfortable with the basics of salsa, there are individual lessons to learn how to spin or how to take the lead. We also include music lessons, introducing such instruments as congas, claves, guitar and the cowbell. Practice up for our visit to a recording studio where you can record your very own song!

Day 8 Havana

Take in the unforgettable show at the Tropicana, Cuba's most famous stage. It was here that such greats as Nat King Cole and Maurice Chevalier gained their fame. The show is a 1950s cabaret style extravaganza where both music and rum flow freely, a fitting end to a trip filled with music and dance.
