Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive Cape Town

Arrive in Cape Town at any time.

Day 2 Cederberg (B,L,D)

Travel to the Cederberg area which is a massive rocky wilderness where giant sandstone boulders have been sculpted by wind and rain into bizarre and artistic shapes. In the afternoon, take the opportunity to explore the rugged landscape up close on foot.

Day 3 Gariep River (B,L,D)

We make our way into the more arid regions and, entering Namibia, camp at the Gariep (Orange) River. Swim, relax or take an optional canoe ride down the river during the free afternoon.

Day 4 Fish River Canyon (B,L,D)

Visit Fish River Canyon, the largest canyon in Africa. In the early evening, watch as a spectacular sunset slips over the canyon's rim.

Day 5-6 Namib Desert (2B,2L,2D)

Towering red sand dunes of Sossusvlei form the gateway into the Namib Desert. Walk to Sossusvlei on your own or take the optional guided walk, explore Sesriem Canyon and watch a dramatic sunset over the world's highest sand dunes.

Day 7-8 Swakopmund (2B,1L)

Lunar landscapes and the prehistoric Welwitchia plants surround the coastal town of Swakopmund. Explore the town or try an optional activity of quad biking / dune boarding during your free time.

Day 9 Damaraland (B,L,D)

Look out over the beautiful desert landscapes as far as the eye can see. Begin moving north into the stony desert landscapes and set up camp near Twyfelfontein. In the afternoon explore the area which is adorned with rock engravings and petrified fossil forests.

Day 10-11 Etosha National Park (2B,2L,2D)

Etosha National Park, "the great white place of dry water", in the game-rich northwest corner of Namibia, offers a variety of wildlife. Take game drives around the huge dry pan to find the elephants, herds of antelope and lions around the waterholes before camping at Okaukuejo with its floodlit waterhole (Subject to animal movements, we may use any of the three camps in Etosha NP.)

Day 12 Windhoek (B,L)

Leave Etosha National Park and head south to the capital of Namibia, Windhoek.
