Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive Livingstone
Arrive in Livingstone at any time.Day 2-3 Gweta (2B,2L,2D)
Cross into Botswana, travelling to Gweta, between Nata and Maun and ideally located for trips to the Makgadikgadi Pans. The Pans was the centre of a great lake but now is one of the world's largest saltpans. Surrounding grasslands are home to an impressive number of antelope attracting a variety of predators.Day 4 Maun (B,L,D)
Travel to Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta. Take an optional excursion to the Maun Game Reserve's walking trails or take a flight over the delta.Day 5 Ghanzi (B,L,D)
Today we move south to the capital of the Kalahari, Ghanzi. The town appears to be in the middle of nowhere, eerily isolated from any other towns by a hundred kilometres of sand.Day 6 Gaborone (B,L)
Travel to the capital of Botswana, Gaborone, with surrounding areas famous for diamonds. Optional activities include the Botswana National Museum, the rock engravings at Matsieng or exploring the city.Day 7-8 Pilanesberg Game Reserve (2B,2L,2D)
Travel to Pilanesberg (National Park) Game Reserve, the crater of an extinct volcano, and home to Africa's big 5. Take part in one of the optional night drives.Day 9 Johannesburg (B,L)
Visit the economic heart of South Africa. Optional excursions to Soweto or the Apartheid Museum.Day 10 Blyde River Canyon (B,L,D)
Head east towards Mpumalanga through a landscape characterized by mountains, panoramic passes, valleys, rivers, waterfalls and forests. Camp the night in Blyde River Canyon.Day 11,12 Kruger National Park (2B,2L,2D)
Exciting game drives provide us with excellent game viewing. Spot lion, elephant, rhino and other animals in this African wilderness.Day 13 Marracuene (B,L,D)
The journey continues to Mozambique with a stop in Marracuene - a popular resting stop for people traveling through southern Mozambique.Day 14,15 Inhambane (2B,2L,2D)
Travel to Mozambique through the Old European settlement of Inhambane. Arrive at camp, built atop sand dunes with spectacular views of the Indian Ocean. Optional activities include horseback riding, quad biking, scuba diving, snorkelling, fishing, and a boat cruise.Day 16,17 Maputo (2B,L)
Visit the country's capital and explore this fascinating city with a definite Latin flare.Day 18,19 Kingdom of Swaziland (2B,2L,2D)
The mountainous Kingdom of Swaziland is one of three monarchies in Africa. Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the “Valley of Heaven”, the Ezulwini Vallley. Sleep in traditional beehive huts. Go horseback riding, mountain biking, game viewing or visit a Swazi village.Day 20,21 Zululand (2B,2L,2D)
Re-enter South Africa and move to St Lucia on the coast. Take an optional boat trip or go for a horseback ride on the beach. Visit the Umfolozi Game Reserve, a safe haven for both the white and black rhino and the rest of the "Big 5". Enjoy a full day game drive and stop at waterhole hides to spot thirsty game.Day 22 Durban (B,L)
Enjoy Durban's sandy beaches and the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.Day 23,24 Drakensberg Mountains (2B,2L,2D)
Move further south to the base of the Drakensberg (Dragon Mountains). Spend two nights with optional walks along beautiful mountain paths looking for Bushman rock paintings or enjoying the views.Day 25,26 Hogsback (2B,2L,2D)
Leave the Southern Drakensberg for a scenic drive to Hogsback. Spend the next two days relaxing in the serenity of the mountains, or hiking along the many trails in the area.Day 27 Addo Elephant National Park (B,L,D)
Addo Elephant National Park offers a unique wildlife area, famous for the Addo elephants. Take game drives in search of elephant, black rhino, lion, buffalo and leopard.Day 28,29 Tsitsikamma (2B,2L,2D)
Indigenous Tsitsikamma forests surround the campsite at Storms River, and take a walk up the Gorge and along the coastline. Optional activities include the world's highest bungee jump or whale watching (in season Jul-Nov).Day 30 Outdshoorn (B,L,D)
After visiting "The Heads" in Knysna, travel over the Outeniqua Mountains into the Little Karoo. In Oudtshoorn, visit the Cango Caves and take an optional tour of an ostrich farm where you can ride one of these birds. Camp outside Oudtshoorn and rest under starry skies.Day 31 Stellenbosch (B,L)
Visit Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa where we visit a winefarm and taste the outstanding wine coming from this region.Day 32 Cape Town (B)
Drive to Cape Town, the "mother city". Climb Table Mountain to admire the views over Table Bay and Cape Town. Do some last-minute curio shopping or just relax on the beach absorbing the Cape's sunshine.Trip Information
