Crete Hike and Kayak

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive Chania

Arrive in Chania at any time.

Day 2 Paleochora - Sea Kayaking (B,D)

Head south across the island to Paleochora. After a quick orientation, jump into your sea kayak and explore the local beaches and swim in the crystal clear waters of the Libyan Sea.

Day 3 Sougia / Lissos – Sea Kayaking (B,D)

Lose yourself in the ancient temple ruins and Roman graves of Lissos. Continue onwards to the peaceful haven of Sougia. Enjoy the lovely beach and don't forget to sample the fresh seafood.

Day 4 Omalos - Hike (B,D)

Trade in the kayak for a sturdy pair of hiking shoes and climb the rugged Agia Irini gorge. Take in the gorgeous scenery of this little visited area before continuing your journey to the highland outpost of Omalos.

Day 5 Samaria Gorge / Agia Roumeli - Hike (B,D)

Hike down a steep but well maintained path through an impressive forest of trees to the bottom of the Samaria Gorge. Take a well deserved rest, enjoy a picnic lunch at your leisure and continue on, following the riverbed to the fishing village of Agia Roumeli.

Day 6 Loutro – Sea Kayaking (B,D)

Jumping back into your kayak, paddle to the quaint fishing village of Loutro. Make sure to stop along the way to admire the 10th century frescoes and amazing architecure of the beachside Byzantine church - Agios Pavlos.

Day 7 Sfakia / Chania (B)

On the final leg of your journey, make a pitstop at the secluded Sweet Water beach, only accessible by a long hike or by sea. Paddle onwards to the mountain side village of Sfakia before retiring your sea legs and heading back to Chania by minibus.
