Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Cancún
Arrive in Cancún and transfer to Holbox Island.Please note: All International arrivals prior to 10:00 AM will receive a same day transfer to the Hotel Casa Las Tortugas on Holbox Island. If your flight arrives later than thiswe recommend that you book an additional night of accommodation in Cancun. The transfer time from Cancun to Holbox is approximately 4-5 hours, and includes driving in a van and taking a ferry across to the island. Weather conditions may also affect the journey.Day 2-7 (6B)
Relax on this tropical island paradise, or partake in an abundance of optional activities, from snorkelling, an encounter with dolphins, sea kayaking, kite-surfing or just relaxing on the beach with a few cervezas...the choice is yours.Holbox means ‘Black Hole’ in Maya and is so named for its proximity to a spring, today known as Yalahau. With a population of just under 2000 people, the locals still retain their traditional fishing village lifestyle, and one is quickly absorbed by the natural setting and a feeling of timelessness on this magical island. There are very few motorized vehicles; transport is primarily by golf cart and bicycle. The friendly Holboxeños will happily chat to you about their daily lives and families, and are always glad to receive visitors. Each evening the locals gather around the main square for a chat and to watch life pass by, while young people play basketball or football nearby. Local restaurants abound serving fresh seafood, steak, pork and chicken delicacies. Start the day with an included continental breakfast, complete with tropical fruit and freshly squeezed juice.A friendly, safe island, this little known jewel is great for families and couples alike.
