Day 1 Arrive Quito
Arrive in Quito at any time.Day 2 Tena
Travel by bus from the mountains to the Amazon jungle. Watch the scenery and climate change dramatically as we enter the rainforest.Day 3-4 Amazon (2B,2L,2D)
Visit an indigenous community, experience local traditions and learn about Quichua history and culture. Hike through the rainforest, explore jungle waterfalls or learn about the uses of a variety of tropical plants.Day 5-6 Baños
Baños is a perfect Andean spot, with hot springs and outdoor activities. Hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and mountain climbing are all options.Day 7 Santa Anita (B, L, D)
This Quichua community is at the base of Ecuador's highest snow-capped volcano, Chimborazo. Stroll through the community or choose from hiking options and satisfy your appetite afterward with a local delicacy, "cuy" (guinea pig).Day 8-9 Riobamba / Alausí
Ride Ecuador's most spectacular train journey, starting at Riobamba station, the Devil's Nose is an unforgettable trip, with the best views from the roof of the train. Alausí is a charming town.Day 10 Guayaquil
Explore the highlights of Ecuador's largest city and most important port. Enjoy a night boat ride on the Guayas River.Day 11-12 Coast / Machalilla
Relax in a beachfront hammock, or explore the area. Visit an archeological site, head to Isla de la Plata, hike in Machalilla National Park, or go diving, snorkelling or whale watching (seasonal).Day 13-17 Quito / Peguche / Otavalo
Travel by night bus to Quito and on to the weaving community of Peguche and then to nearby Otavalo, the largest traditional market in South America. Pick up some handicrafts, take photos or just wander the town.Trip Information
