Itinerary

Day 1 Longyearbyen

Embark on the expedition ship in the afternoon and depart Longyearbyen in the evening.

Day 2-8 Svalbard Archipelago / Spitsbergen

Each day will be planned to take advantage of local ice and weather conditions. Svalbard is one of the few places on the planet to offer such a plethora of natural and historical extravaganzas. During the next 8 days, we will visit ice covered fjords with breathtaking mountain scenery and glaciers crashing into the sea around us. We will spend time steaming through the ice in search of polar bears hunting seals. Ivory Gulls are the highlight for birders, while constantly keeping a look out for walruses either on ice or at an onshore hullout. We will visit spectacular bird cliffs filled with thousands of murres, as well as kittiwakes and other types of gulls. At one or more of the stops, we hope to see one of Svalbard’s species of reindeer, smaller than the southern relatives, but still carrying impressive antlers. By not having a set agenda, we will be free to take advantage of the best that Svalbard has to offer before concluding our adventure in Longyearbyen.

Day 9 Longyearbyen

We arrive in Longyearbyen in the early morning for disembarkation.
