Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive Rio de Janeiro
Arrive in Rio at any time.Day 2 Set sail from Rio de Janeiro
Embark on your adventure with a scenic 12 hour sail along the Brazilian coast with unbeatable views of Rio's famous horizon, virgin rainforest and long, lonely beaches. Onboard duties will be set out for everyone who wishes to help out.Day 3 Ilha Grande, Enseada das Palmas
Anchor at beautiful Ilha Grande. Explore Enseada das Palmas for the day either by foot or by sea, via kayak or snorkel, for an up close and personal view of the local flora and fauna. Settle down at Lopes Mendes Beach to watch the sun set over the horizon. Conclude a fun-filled day with dinner and drinks on the beach.Day 4 Lagoa Azul, Saco do Ceu
Set sail today for Lagoa Azul (Blue Lagoon), Sítio Forte and Saco do Céu, with the possibility of a small hiking adventure through landscapes of beautiful deserted beaches. In the evening phosphorescent sea plankton give us a fantastic fluorescent show. Anchor at Saco do Céu.Day 5 Mamanguá Ecological Reserve
Depart early for Mamanguá Ecological Reserve, the only fjord in Brazil. Relax or partake in your choice of activities, exploring the mangrove forest or snorkelling with the tropical fish in the 8km green-blue sea-entrance. After lunch enjoy a rainforest hike or waterfall expedition before nighttime festivities on the beach. Anchor at Mamanguá.Day 6 Ilha da Beixiga, arrive Paraty
Sail today to the pristine waters and islands of the Paratimirim peninsula. Have a Robinson Crusoe moment at the stunning Ilha da Beixiga, a private island which only we have permission to visit. From here it is only a short sail to the historic port town of Paraty, a quintessential Brazilian colonial town famous for fantastic seafood, the Brazilian drink Cachaça, and the rhythms of Bossa Nova.Day 7 Paraty
Disembark the Tocorimé for the last time around noon to explore the 16th century fort on the island and enjoy this tropical paradise. Located between the lush green mountains and the sea, Paraty (sometimes spelled Parati) was once a place of significant economic importance due to its sugar cane mills. At its peak the city was home to over 250 distilleries, and the name Paraty was synonymous with world-class sugar cane rum.Day 8-9 Paraty
Visit one of the old cachaça (sugar cane liquor) distilleries and sugar cane factories to learn the colonial and economic history of the region. Venture further outside of town to Trinidade beach for a half day tour.Day 10 Iguassu Falls
Bus to Sao Paulo then take a flight to Iguassu Falls. Over the next couple of days explore both the Argentinean and Brazilian sides of the falls, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986.Day 11 Iguassu Falls
The Brazilian side of the falls offers a grand overview of the falls and allows you the opportunity to take in the sheer scope of the park. Take a side trip to the bird park or hitch a ride on a helicopter for a different perspective of the falls.Day 12 Iguassu Falls
The Argentinean side of the falls allows a much more up-close view of the falls. Clambour around jungle walkways and feel the mist of the mighty falls. Brace for the power of the falls as you can literally reach out and touch the cascading water on some portions of today's journey. There are several optional side trips for you to choose from.Day 13 Rio de Janeiro
Fly back to Rio de Janeiro. Head to the beach-side neighbourhoods of Ipanema and Copacabana for a local taste of this vibrant city. Explore and learn the past and present of Rio de Janeiro. Begin with cable car rides to the Corcovado (Christ the Redeemer) and Pao de Açucar (Sugarloaf), which no visit to Rio would be complete without. Both offer incredible views of the coastline and sparking beaches.Take a tour through the infamous favelas (shantytowns) for insight into the present-day reality for millions of Cariocas. Visit the Maracana soccer stadium, where if you're lucky you may even be able to catch a game to see Brazil's real religion in action! Stop over at the Sambadrome and Carnival museum to see the workings of the yearly festival that takes over the city. No matter the length of your stay, the allure of Rio will surely make you want to come back for more.Trip Information
