Itinerary
Day 1 Adelaide
Stroll this genteel, park-filled city then visit Penfolds Magill Estate Winery.Day 2 Flinders Chase
Take to the seas on a ferry bound for rugged Kangaroo Island. Once the notorious home of escaped convicts, whalers and sealers, it boasts some of Australia's most pristine landscape. Its isolation means the island's native species have been protected. Hit the road through Penneshaw en route to Pennington Bay. Look out for koalas, echidnas and the island's unique kangaroo. It's also renowned for excellent produce including fresh seafood and marron (freshwater crayfish). Dine on some local tucker then head back out to investigate the island's nocturnal action, or swap stories under the starry sky.Days 3-4 Kangaroo Island/Adelaide
Rise early and venture to Flinders Chase National Park to see New Zealand fur seals frolic in the Southern Ocean. Wander through ancient geological monuments and learn about the megafauna that once lived here. After lunch, embark on a bushland trek and enjoy contrasting river and coastal scenery. Head to the secluded beaches on the north side of the island. Picnic in a secluded location among untouched bushland. Scale then sail down the snow-white sand dunes of Little Sahara.
