Day 1 Arrive Kochi
Arrive in Kochi at anytime.Day 2 Kochi
Small islands full of Portuguese and Dutch history, all connected by wooden ferries, welcome you to Fort Kochi. The oldest church in India sits near mosques, synagogues and English manor homes. Feast on delightful Keralan food and enjoy a performance of Kathakali dancing.Day 3 Northern Kerala - Kannur
This scenic coastal town was an important maritime centre in the 14th and 15th centuries and remains a centre for Theyyam, a spectacular dance-ritual.Day 4-5 Keralas Western Ghats - Wayanad
Wayanad District is set high on the majestic Western Ghats with altitudes ranging from 700 to 2100 m. It is a remote region of virgin rainforest and mist clad mountains. Home to a number of indigenous tribal communities and extensive cardamon, coffee, tea and rubber plantations.Day 6 Kozhikode
Known to the world as Calicut, a major port in the Malabar trade in textiles and spices.Day 7 Central Kerala - Palakkad
A largely agrarian society, Palakkad has a reputation as Kerala's granary. It provided access to the coast for conquerors and traders.Day 8 Munnar
Munnar is surrounded by tea plantations and offers old-world charm and wonderful views.Days 9-10 Periyar Tiger Reserve
Further into the Western Ghats is the acclaimed wildlife sanctuary of Periyar which attracts herds of wild elephants, the park also sees sambar and spotted deer. We take a boat onto the lake and enjoy a guided nature walk to better explore the area.Day 11 Houseboat Kerala Backwaters (L, D)
Houseboats were originally used for carrying rice and spices and have been converetd to take us through the Keralan backwaters.Day 12 Kerala Backwaters (B)
This pleasant market town, famous for its August 'snake boat' races, uses canals and roadways for transport, both fringed by coconut trees. Staying in an ayurvedic retreat, there's time for a bit of pampering.Day 13-14 Varkala
A temple town known for its yoga and massage centres, Varkala means just one thing for many visitors - a chance for some time on the beach. It is the only place in southern Kerala where one can find cliffs adjacent to the Arabian sea.Trip Information
