Itinerary
Days 1-2 Hanoi
Slow-paced and picturesque, Hanoi is filled with temples, cafes, parks, tree-lined streets and lovely lakes. If you arrive early get out and explore by cyclo or foot and get a taste for Asia and France all at once. Roam the Old Quarter exploring temples and bustling street stalls and be entertained by a traditional water puppet show.Days 3-4 Halong Bay/Overnight Train
Set sail for an adventure through the beautiful Halong Bay. 3,000 limestone peaks dot the turquoise water of the bay and we have plenty of time to explore the islands and their mysterious caves filled with stalactites and stalagmites. A night on board the boat is a very special experience as you fall asleep surrounded by stars, fresh sea air and the gentle lapping of waves against the hull.Days 5-7 Hoi An
Travelling by China Beach and the Marble Mountains, we arrive at the ancient town of Hoi An. Meet some local kids and learn about their lives on a visit to a school, get some clothes tailored or head out to the beach on bicycle.Days 8-9 Ho Chi Minh City
A short flight delivers us to the buzzing and vibrant Ho Chi Minh City. A local-style lunch awaits at the Ben Thanh Market and then you're free to explore at your own pace. Perhaps its time to scoot off on cyclos to do some temple hopping, see the regal Jade Emperor Pagoda or shop till you drop! The following day, cool off at the Dam Sen Water Park.Days 10-11 Phnom Penh
Another short flight takes us across the border to Cambodia and Phnom Penh. Get a taste of Khmer sculpture at the museum, swing by the shining remnants of the Silver Pagoda or search for silk, music, silverware, clothes and mementoes at the Russian Market. Then it's time to gaze back at it all on an afternoon cruise down the river.Days 12-15 Siem Reap/Angkor Wat
Our final destination is one of our most awe-inspiring. After travelling through rural Cambodia we join the locals for sunset at Angkor Wat. The following day we return to this massive temple complex to explore it in depth. There are several other temples to explore nearby. For one last adventure we jump onto elephants for a ride to the exotic ruins of the Bayon temple.Trip Information
