Itinerary
Day 1 Belize City
Meet and greet on arrival at the Belize International Airport. Transfer to your hotel for the night.Day 2 Jaguar Paw Resort
After breakfast at your hotel board your tour bus for 40 minute drive via the Western Highway to Peccary Park Adventure Centre in Gracie Rock Village. What would Robinson Crusoe do if he suddenly found himself marooned in the midst of a rainforest? What would you do? Learn the ingenious "Survivor" skills and secrets to managing this kind of a situation from instructors who have done such things first hand! Your experienced jungle guides will teach you how to make fire using only a machete and a piece of Bamboo. Learn to identify sources of water and how to actually produce it. Then visit Robinson Crusoe's jungle style dwelling made from all natural materials - vines, branches and the bark of various trees! Also featured is rappelling and a Maya cave. After lunch your experienced guides will brief you on safety procedures, outline the route to be taken and issue protective helmets. It is now time to explore the jungles of Belize on trails laid out over 100 years ago by loggers in search of precious Mahogany trees. Our trails are a good mix of various challenging terrains leading to your first stop of the day – the Maya Caves. Explore caves once used by the Maya thousands of years ago. To the Maya, caves were sacred places where important ceremonies were conducted to appease the gods of the underworld. As you explore the cave be on the look out for ancient ceramic pots forgotten for centuries. After this stop, it is time to loop back to home base via jungle trails. You will then board your tour bus for a 45 minute drive to Jaguar Paw Resort.Day 3 Jaguar Paw Resort
Today’s first adventure features cave tubing on the Caves Branch River. Be prepared for a one hour jungle hike to the entrance tunnel that heads into the underground cave system and the start of an “eye opening” adventure. Your guide hands out flashlights, and you are ready to float in inflated inner tubes assisted by gentle currents taking you through several miles of cave system. Intricate crystalline formations line the caves and stalagmites and stalactites add to the serene opulence of nature. At the end, enjoy freshly prepared rice and beans and savory chicken served at the resort. After lunch you will start your adventure of Rainforest Ziplining (Aerial Trek) at Jaguar Paw Resort. The zipline tour features an intricate harness system of pulleys on horizontal traverse cables, supervised by experienced guides, which lets participants swing 100 - 240 feet between platforms 70 feet high in the trees at leaf level. The tour begins with a ten minute hike through the rainforest to the starting platform up in the canopy of the forest. The next hour is spent flying through the forest with the birds – a truly unforgettable experience.Day 4 San Ignacio
Actun Tunichil Muknal "Cave of the Stone Sepulcher" is one of the most impressive caves in the Maya lowland. Located in the heart of the Belizean rainforest, this cave was a sacred place to the prehistoric Maya of Belize, who first began to use the entrance during the early classic period (300-600 A.D.). It was not until the late terminal classic period (700-900 A.D.) that the Mayas travelled deeper into the cave to conduct their ceremonies. The cave system consists of a series of chambers, ending in a 300 by 50 meter cathedral where sacrificial ceremonies once took place. Here you will be exposed to the individuals sacrificed to the gods of the underworld. Visitors to this cave have the unique opportunity to travel into the Maya past and witness a living museum where the human sacrifices and artifacts can be viewed in their original context. After an hour’s drive from Jaguar Paw Resort, you'll trek for 45 minutes through dense jungle in the Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve and wade across three streams before reaching the cave entrance. At the entranceto the cave you'll be outfitted with the necessary equipment and some swimming will be required. This is a premier, world-class caving and archeology experience that is unexploited and generally restricted to limited visitation.Day 5 San Ignacio
The adventure begins with a short drive to Xunantunich (Maya for “Maiden of the Rock”) which sits just inside the Western border of Belize. Before reaching the entrance of this ancient city, your party will board a 19th century hand-cranked ferry which takes you across the Mopan River. The ruins are actually located on one of the highest plateaus in the area and it is possible to climb to the top of “El Castillo”, the largest temple at this site. From this vantage point, one gains a panoramic view of the Cayo District and nearby Guatemala. After enjoying a tasty local lunch, we continue to Barton Creek Cave in Amish territory. Equipped with canoes/kayaks and high-powered lights we gently paddle into Xibalba (she-bal-ba), Maya for underworld. Stalactites and Stalagmites hang high overhead as we float past impressive calcite crystals. Our knowledgeable guides will discuss the use of this cave by the ancient Maya, while some artifacts can be seen high above the alcoves.Day 6 Placencia

The 575-acre Saint Herman's Blue Hole National Park features - the Blue Hole (a sapphire-colored natural swimming spring that is 25-feet deep); St. Herman's Cave, which is nearly a half-mile long, is where you will witness intricate stalactites, stalagmites, and other curious rock formations; or you can just hike on numerous nature trails.
