Itinerary

Day 1 Puerto Maldonado/Libertador Tambopata Lodge

You'll be met at the Puerto Maldonado airport and travel via the Tambopata River to the jungle lodge as a naturalist guide describes the evolving vegetation of the virgin rainforest. Teeming with giant groves of Brazil-nut and dipteryx trees, prepare for a delightful nature walk around the lodge and watch for saddle-back tamarinds, brown capuchins, pacas, and other wildlife. Beneath a starry sky venture on the not-to-be-missed night walk.

Day 2 Libertador Tambopata Lodge

After an early breakfast embark on a guided naturalist tour aboard a canoe and arrive to Lake Condenado. Rich in bird and aquatic life, view a variety of bird species like herons, egrets, and noisy donacobius. Return to the lodge for lunch and an afternoon of leisure - perhaps relax and bathe in the Gallucunca, a cool clear stream by the lodge or visit the tree platforms for a bird's eye view of the forest. This evening, get a glimpse of the nocturnal life on the river as you enjoy a river cruise.

Day 3 Libertador Tambopata Lodge

Today you're off to Lake Sachavacayoc. After breakfast take a boat excursion to a spectacular hidden lake where it is possible to spot the elusive black caiman and giant otters. Return for lunch - the afternoon is free for relaxation and swimming.

Day 4 Puerto Maldonado

Return by canoe to Puerto Maldonado for departure.
