Itinerary

Day 1 Lima/Chiclayo

Catch your flight to the northern coastal city of Chiclayo, one of Peru’s fastest growing modern cities. Spend the afternoon at leisure. Meet the friendly locals, take an optional tour to visit colonial landmarks, or the huge Mercado Model market, one of the most diverse in the country.

Day 2 Chiclayo

Enjoy a tour of the Bruning Museum in Lambayeque which contains relics and artifacts and houses Peru’s most important archeological discovery of the past fifty years. The royal Moche tomb at Sipan was unearthed in 1987 near Chiclayo.

Day 3 Chiclayo/Trujillo

Transfer to the colonial city of Trujillo. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure. Trujillo is rich in colonial architecture with beautiful wrought-iron grillwork. Visitors can wander the many quarters and venture to the Plaza de Armas. On the weekends a colourful flag raising ceremony and parades make the plaza a popular destination. Other not-to-be-missed venues include optional visits to the museums and churches.

Day 4 Trujillo

This day of sightseeing will include a guided tour to the ancient Chimu capital of Chan Chan. Considered the largest pre-Columbian city in the Americas and the largest mud city in the world, Chan Chan will truly mesmerize. Afterwards it’s off to another archeological site which is even older than Chan Chan. The Temples of the Sun and Moon appear like two pyramid-shaped huacas overlooking the south bank of the Moche River.

Day 5 Trujillo/Lima

Flight back to Lima.
