Day 3-4 Aksu Zhabaghly Nature Reserve
In spring, the meadows of this beautiful nature reserve are carpeted in tulips. Trek, take in a dombra performance or kick back with a cup of kumys (fermented mare's milk) in this tranquil Central Asian landscape.
Day 5-6 Turkistan
Skirt the sands of the Kyzylkum Desert en route to Turkistan, the centre of mystical Sufism and home of the country's most iconic building - the turquoise-domed Kozha Akhmed Yasaui Mausoleum.
Day 7 Almaty
Return to the leafy, tree-lined streets of Almaty with time to explore the candy-coloured Zenkov Cathedral on your own.
