Smack bang in the middle of Eurasia, Tashkent is an interesting mix of mosques, mud houses and Soviet architecture. Catch the metro out to Chorsu Bazaar to buy freshly-picked fruit or take in a ballet or opera at the Alisher Navoi theatre.Day 2 Khiva
Sense the ghosts of barbarians, slaves and Silk Road traders in the shadows of the magical ancient palaces, tombs and medressas of Ichon-Qala.Days 3-4 Bukhara
Carry plenty of water while exploring the winding streets of this Intrepid favourite - Bukhara can get very hot. Be sure to stop and have a chat with the Uzbek locals as they chill out in the shade beneath the centuries-old mulberry trees of Lyabi-Hauz.Days 5-6 Shakhrisabz/Samarkand
