Itinerary

Day 1-2, Anchorage, Alaska Range & Wrangell Mountains

We leave Anchorage and test the challenging McCarthy Road north past the massive Mantanuska Glacier en route to the towering Wrangell Mountains in Wrangell-St. Elias national Park. While in this area, you will have time for a guided glacier hike or to try ice-climbing on the nearby Kennicott glacier.Accommodation: Camping included

Day 3, Tangle Lakes

Explore this vast wilderness, before crossing the mighty Alaska Mountain Range. Cross the Alaskan Pipeline and spend one night camping in the Tangle Lakes area before arriving at Denali National Park.Accommodation: Camping included

Day 4-6, Denali National Park

Travel the lone road in this awe-inspiring national park on two full day scenic bus rides to endless views and hiking opportunities. Experience this pristine preserve with its ancient residents (moose, caribou, fox, and of course, grizzly bear) and hike in the shadows of Mt. McKinley (North America's highest mountain at 20,320 ft). This national park will quickly show you why it has a reputation throughout the world.Accommodation: Camping included

Day 7, Anchorage

Returning to Anchorage, you have the opportunity to experience a scenic flight over some of the most beautiful and rugged snow-capped peaks in the world. Tonight in Anchorage we sample the sights and nightlife in this state's largest city.Accommodation: Camping included

Day 8-10, Seward

Heading south from Anchorage following Cook Inlet and after a visit to Portage Glacier, it's on to Seward, nestled at the end of Resurrection Bay. From our base in Seward, gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park, discover this misty and mysterious region via land and sea. Tour Kenai Fjords National Park by boat and follow the sparkling coastline, keeping an eye open for killer whales, and witnessing the thunder as immense glaciers calve icebergs into the sea. An easy walk to the base of Exit Glacier or a more strenuous hike to the Harding Icefields is also nearby.Accommodation: Camping included

Day 11-12, Kenai National Wildlife Refuge & Luxury Camp

Crossing to the other side of the peninsula, the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge awaits. Canoeing the lakes of this woodland brings views of eagles perched in the treetops and moose feeding along the shore. Next, we travel by boat to our luxury wilderness camp overlooking Kachemak Bay and surrounded by the magnificent Kenai Mountains. Experience a true Alaskan adventure with activities such as sea kayaking, mountain biking and an authentic salmon bake.Accommodation: Camping included

Day 13-14, Homer & Anchorage

Then it's back to Homer with endless vistas of snow-clad summits surrounding Kachemak Bay. Relax and enjoy the quiet streets and special qualities of this once-isolated fishing village at the "End of the Road". Beachcombing and hiking will certainly work up an appetite for some halibut fresh from the local waters. With pockets full of postcards and memories, passing the old Russian settlements of Ninilchik and Kenai, return to Anchorage refreshed, renewed, and filled with the wonders of this great land - Alaska.Accommodation: Camping includedTours ends at 18:00 hrs in Anchorage on day 14Flexible Night StopsThe itinerary shown is intended as a guide only indicating a typical itinerary & series of activities.
