Itinerary

Day 1-2, New York & Washington DC

Leaving the "Big Apple" behind, the first stop is the nation's capital, Washington, DC, and an evening tour of the illuminated monuments. The following day is free to explore the famous Smithsonian Museums, the Capitol Building, or even the White House itself. Accommodation: 2 hotel nights approx US$45 pppn in multi-share rooms paid locally.

Day 3, Appalachian Mountains

Hiking, horseback riding and exploring caves are some of the activities awaiting you amidst the lush, natural beauty of the Appalachian Mountains. Accommodation: 1 night hotel included

Day 4-5, Nashville & Memphis

We venture through the Appalachian Mountains to the center of American country music in Nashville, Tennessee. Learn to country dance, walk the riverfront or shop at the many stores downtown. A short distance away Elvis' home town, Memphis. Tour Graceland or stroll along Beale Street to see the influences that Blues and Jazz music has had on America. Accommodation: 1 night Nashville hotel approx US$39 pppn in multi-share room paid locally & 1 night Memphis hotel included.

Day 6-7, New Orleans

Next is New Orleans, the place everyone loves to visit, with its exciting nightlife, great music and that special French flavour. Explore the enchanting French Quarter, ride a steamboat on the Mississippi River, enjoy traditional jazz at Preservation Hall or sample a Hurricane at Pat O'Brien's! Accommodation: 2 nights New Orleans hotel included.

Day 8-9, Texas & San Antonio

Head west into Texas for historic San Antonio and home of the Alamo, a symbol of Texan pride. Accommodation: 2 nights hotel approx US$45 pppn in multi-share rooms paid locally.

Day 10-14, Big Bend National Park, El Paso, Tombstone & Cowboy Camp

Leave the cities behind for five days of desert wonderland, from the remote splendour of Big Bend National Park to the saguaro cactus-studded vistas of the Sonoran Desert, including a wonderful 'once in a lifetime' experience at our secluded cowboy camp. Accommodation: Camping included

Day 15, Monument Valley

Monument Valley, a land of classic western scenery, is the Navajo Nation's greatest natural treasure. Take a jeep tour with the Navajo guides into remote areas made famous by scores of celebrated western movies. Accommodation: Camping included

Day 16-17, Grand Canyon National Park

Just when the scenery seems unbeatable, journey to the Grand Canyon, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Walk along the rim, hike down a canyon trail, or take a scenic flight; whatever the choice, it will forever create a vivid and indelible memory of this special place. Accommodation: 2 nights hotel approx US$45 pppn in multi-share rooms paid locally .

Day 18-19, Las Vegas

On to an incredible man-made wonder in the desert - Las Vegas! "The City That Never Sleeps" boasts excellent variety shows, roller coasters, discount shopping and extraordinary architectural facades, as well as its famous bright lights, casino gambling and non-stop nightlife. Day 20-21, Death Valley National Park & Los Angeles

Desert glitz turns to desert landscape as we move on to Death Valley National Park. Discover the beauty behind the names of such glorious sights as Golden Canyon, Dante's View and Zabriskie Point before traversing the rest of the immense Mojave Desert en route to the final destination, Los Angeles. Accommodation: Camping included Tour ends at 18:00 hrs in Los Angeles on day 21.
