Day 1-2, Los Angeles, Colorado River & Grand Canyon

After a short tour of Hollywood we bid the City of Angels farewell and head through California to the deserts of Arizona. After spending an evening along the Colorado River we explore America's premier National Park, and find out why it is called the Grand Canyon. Visit the viewpoints, hike the trails, or take a scenic flight for a bird's-eye view - no matter what, you will not believe your eyes.Accommodation: Camping included

Day 3-4, Las Vegas

Next, Las Vegas - the greatest show on earth! Cruise "The Strip" in style with the included limousine tour, then indulge in an all-you-can eat buffet, take in a show or just watch the amazing crowds, neon and attractions that many hotel casinos have to offer. And if that's not enough, take a helicopter flight down The Strip or just gamble the night away in one of the world class casinos.Accommodation: 2 nights Vegas hotel approx US$45 pppn for multi-share rooms paid locally.

Day 5-7, Yosemite and San Francisco

Heading through Central California we take a scenic drive into the Yosemite National Park region and a chance to hike, bike, or float through the extraordinary landscape of glacier-carved granite monoliths, spectacular waterfalls and groves of giant Sequoia trees - the largest living things on earth! If you want a real challenge, try the 17 mile round trip hike to the top of Half Dome! On our last day together we head back west through California's gold country, where in 1848 the finding of a single nugget triggered a stampede of gold-seekers known as the 49'ers, before arriving at the home of the beatnik generation, San Francisco.Accommodation: Camping includedTour ends at 18:00 hrs in San Francisco on day 7.ITINERARY UPDATEPlease note there has been a change to the published itinerary. Our current brochure lists a "California" night stop between Las Vegas & Yosemite National Park in order to shorten the time spent traveling on each of these days. Based on client feedback, we have learned that our trekkers prefer to spend a second night in Las Vegas. With this in mind we have decided to change the itinerary as show above. The second night in Las Vegas remains an "H" night (hotel paid locally) and we will contribute the equivalent cost of camping toward this extra hotel night. We are confident that you'll agree a second night in Las Vegas will add to your enjoyment of this tour.
