Dedicated to the elephant-headed god Lord Ganesh (the son of Shiva), the most beloved and benevolent of Hindu gods, Ganesh Chaturthi, Ganesha's birthday, is the spectacular end to several days celebration. On the final day, large models of Lord Ganesha are carried through the streets before being taken and immersed into the Arabian Sea.
