Day 1 Arrive Tokyo

Arrive in Tokyo at any time.

Day 2 Tokyo

Tokyo, the capital of Japan, is one of the most modern cities in the world. However, if you scratch the glossy surface, you will find that Tokyo is a city steeped in tradition.

Day 3 Nikko

Boasting some of Japan's most beautiful countryside, Nikko is most famous for its dazzling Tosho-gu shrine.

Day 4-5 Nagano

Host of the 1998 Winter Olympics, Nagano has the historic Zenkoji Temple, and the world famous Jigokudani Monkey Hot Springs, where you can see wild snow monkeys bathing.

Day 6-7 Matsumoto

Located in the Nagano Alps, Matsumoto is a charming castle town with a great old quarter to explore. Take a side trip out to a Wasabi Farm, to see how this root is grown.

Day 8-9 Kiso Valley

The Kiso Valley sits nestled between the snow capped Central and Northern Alps, and seems to have been bypassed by Japanese modernization. The nearby towns of Magome and Tsumago, along an old Edo-period trading road, look just as they did 400 years ago due to the ban on cars, telegraph poles and TV antennas.

Day 10-12 Hakuba

Head into the heart of the 3000 metre Nagano Alps, an area with over a dozen ski areas. Enjoy three days of snow sports including skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing.

Day 13 Tokyo

Return to Tokyo in time for some last minute shopping and a last night dinner with your fellow travellers.
