Arctic Cruise - Spitsbergen, Greenland & Iceland
Questions? Call us: 1-866-549-7614
This is an exploratory voyage, which offers wonderful opportunities for hiking in the mountains, visiting remote Inuit settlements, photographing dramatic fjords, huge icebergs and Arctic wildlife. It is exciting new terrain for all. Spitsbergen, the jewel of the high Arctic, is a large island situated between the north coast of Norway and the North Pole. You will also sail on a southeasterly course to the East Greenland pack ice belt and, with any luck, head into spectacular Scoresby Sound, the worlds largest fjord. This voyage offers plenty of opportunities to walk onshore as well as sea kayaking.

Itinerary
Day 1: Embark Longyearbyen
This morning, there will be time to explore the bustling village community of Longyearbyen, "capital" of Spitsbergen. In the afternoon, board the M/V Polar Pioneer, and set sail. Cruising out of the beautiful Isfjorden, the crew will look to make a landing in the evening.Days 2-3: Spitsbergen Coastline
You spend two days sampling the delights of the western edge of Spitsbergen, where the mountain glaciers pour into the sea in the beautiful Hornsund or adjacent bays.Day 4: At Sea
You'll be at sea all day, enjoying informative talks as you cruise south-west across the Greenland Sea. You'll keep an eye out for seabirds, whales and pack-ice that stretches north across the Arctic Ocean to the North Pole.Day 5: Greenland Sea Crossing
You continue your Greenland Sea crossing and if the pack-ice is sparse you should be able to make landfall at North East Greenland National Park. Home to polar bear, walrus, snowy owl and musk ox, it's the world's largest national park.Days 6-10: Kaiser Franz Josef Fjord and Scoresby Sound
If the pack-ice allows, you'll attempt to reach the breathtaking Kaiser Franz Josef fjord and Scoresby Sound, the world's largest fjord. Massive glaciers that calve here form the birthplace of Greenland's renowned giant icebergs. You plan to visit remote Inuit communities and hike on the vast tundra. The crew will always remain alert for any chance to launch the sea kayaks.Days 11-12: Exploring East Greenland Coast
You explore the east Greenland coast, along the flanks of Knud Rasmussen Land.Day 13: Denmark Strait
