Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive Ushuaia - Tierra del Fuego

Arrive in Ushuaia at any time.

Day 2-3 El Calafate

Fly to El Calafate and Moreno Glacier, within Glacier National Park. We may spot condors, eagles, flamingos and rheas in this beautiful landscape.

Day 4-5 El Chaltén / Glacier National Park

Take day hikes from our base of El Chaltén in Glacier National Park. Enjoy hikes to Laguna de Los Tres and Laguna Torre for awe-inspiring views of the magical peaks and glaciers. Return to El Calafate on Day 5.

Day 6-9 Torres del Paine National Park (2B, 2L, 2D)

Travel south into Chile to the spectacular Torres del Paine National Park. Hike through the world-renowned rough beauty of Patagonia, with breathtaking views of the three pink granite “Towers.” See unique wildlife, including vicuña, rheas and Patagonian hares. Travel by boat on Lake Pehoe amongst the icebergs of Grey Glacier.

Day 10-11 Ushuaia

Return to Ushuaia for one more night on the town, and prepare for Antarctica! Embarkation on the M/V Polaris begins in the afternoon on day 11.

Day 12-13 Drake Passage

Our adventure begins with a 400-mile crossing of the passage that bears the name of the 16th-century English explorer Sir Francis Drake. Enjoy daily lectures from your expedition team and keep your eye out for the first iceberg sighting, whales, and albatross following in the ship's wake.

Day 14-17 Antarctic Peninsula & South Shetland Islands

Conditions permitting, we attempt two excursions per day. Common highlights include Paradise Harbour, Neko Harbour or Wilhelmina Bay and cruising Lemaire Channel, Errera Channel or Neumayer Channel, as well as visits to Scientific research stations. Penguins, seals and whales abound in this majestic land. Excellent photo opportunities are virtually limitless.

Day 18-19 Drake Passage

Head back north across the Drake Passage to Ushuaia. Keep your eyes open on the observation deck for some final whale sightings! In between bird and whale watching and final lectures, relax and review the adventures of the past week.
