Comfort Yunnan (Tiger Leaping Gorge)

Itinerary

Day 1 Kunming

Take the time to explore the 'Eternal Spring City' of Kunming, capital of the province. You might like to visit the Tang Dynasty Pagodas or explore the excellent Provincial Museum to get a taste of Yunnan's history and culture.

Days 2-3 Dali

Relax in Dali and take in the spectacular views of the surrounding snow-capped mountain peaks. Take a tour of the countryside to visit the colourful markets of the Bai people; weave through the fantastic displays of a huge variety of goods.

Days 4-5 Lijiang

The World Heritage-listed town of Lingjiang is home to the Naxi people, who descend from Tibetan nomads. Stay in the town's atmospheric Old Quarter and take the chance to visit an ancient house and soak up some culture at a traditional Naxi music performance. There's time to indulge in some more Yunnan-style cuisine - maybe the popular 'across-the-bridge noodles' - or head out into the countryside to catch a glimpse of Jade Dragon Mountain.

Days 6-7 Tiger Leaping Gorge/Zhongdian

Prepare to be blown away by some of the most magnificent scenery in all of China. Tiger Leaping Gorge rises up 3,900 m above the waters of the Yangzi, making it one of the world's deepest gorges. In Zhongdian, or Shangri-La as it is now known, visit the massive Ganden Sumtseling Gompa, a Tibetan monastery with hundreds of monks. Catching a sunset from the top is incredibly beautiful.

Days 8-9 Kunming

Return to Kunming to delve deeper below the surface and find hidden treasures and delightful sights. Enjoy a final dinner before bidding farewell to wonderful Yunnan.
