Itinerary

Days 1-2 Broome/Cape Leveque

Head for the Dampier Peninsula along rugged 4WD tracks. These shimmering waters, white sandy coastline and red rocky clifftops embody the Kimberley's wild beauty. Visit the spectacular mother-of-pearl altar at the Beagle Bay church. On a guided bushwalk through traditional Bardi saltwater country, discover the Dreamtime legends, history and culture of these isolated communities. After learning to find bush tucker, share fresh billy tea and campfire damper with new friends. Then hit the road to camp at Cape Leveque, falling asleep to the sound of Indian Ocean waves lapping the shore. Next day, join a snorkelling or fishing adventure or climb aboard a sea kayak or dinghy for a leisurely exploration of the archipelago. Splurge on a scenic flight for unforgettable views across the islands and inlets. Alternatively, just take it easy on the pristine beaches and rugged coastline that make the Cape famous. Tuck into a flame-grilled dinner then sleep out under the enormous, starry Kimberley sky.

Day 3 One Arm Point/Broome

Witness an unusual natural phenomenon: the Buccaneer Archipelago's huge tidal flows. These islands teem with wildlife. Saltwater crocodiles, sharks and sea snakes also make their home in waters and coral reefs where humans rarely venture. Visit the Aquaculture Hatchery to learn about barramundi, pearl and trochus shell conservation, then enjoy lunch in the gardens of the Lombadina community. Enjoy a final dip in this part of the Indian Ocean before returning to Broome.
