Spend 11 days in India's Himalayas practicing yoga, trekking into local hill towns and jungles, and getting to know the culture firsthand. This is not a traditional yoga tour in India, or a traditional adventure tour: it's both. This is an organic insider-view with offbeat destinations, adventures and a very authentic look at India.
Each morning there will be a yoga class led by an American instructor with 8 years experience teaching yoga and guiding backpacking trips. Tailored for all levels of ability, the yoga classes are designed to enhance our personal experience of our time in India. We will also have the opportunity to study yoga with local Indian teachers. There is plenty of free time on this trip to see, touch, and experience India in ways that are meaningful to you.

Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrive
Arrive in Delhi any time during the dayDay 2 - Delhi
Today we begin with a traditional yoga session in a local studio, followed by a city tour of Delhi. We will visit the stunning and historical Jama Mosque, the ornamental Red Fort and the Raj Ghat, a moving memorial to Mahatma GhandiDay 3 - Drive to Northern India
Today we drive to our home base for the rest of the week - a tranquil resort high in the mountains.Day 4 - Yoga
Relax at the resort and spend the day doing yoga, receiving a massage, and attending a lecture on the ancient India medicine system of Ayurveda.Day 5 - Day Trek
Get your boots dirty in the thick, green forests with jungle-trekking around hill tribe villages that rarely see outsiders. Listen out for birdcalls, learn about the local plants, and ramble beneath enormous trees.Day 6 - Indian Cooking Class
Spend the day learning the classic Indian cooking techniques from local instructors. There will be a big feast this night!Day 7 - Nainital Town, Day Trek
Today we will spend the whole day in the town of Naintal, a very popular hill station. Situated at 6,358 feet above sea level, Nainital is in a valley surrounded by mountains. We will explore local markets and get a chance to practice our bartering.Day 8 - Remote Temples, Trekking
Explore thousands of years of history related to Hindu gods and philosophy by trekking to ancient temples in the surrounding areas.Day 9 - Free Day
Find your own experience of India by choosing to explore the countryside on horses or receiving a traditional Ayurvedic massage at the resort.Day 10 - Delhi Homestay
In mid-morning, we begin our journey back to Delhi to prepare for our flight departures the following day. The group will spend the night with an Indian family, getting a personalized experience of the culture and customs.Day 11 - Departure
With one last visit to the local market for shopping, then we're off to transfer everyone to the airport.Trip Information
