Itinerary
Day 1 & 2, Los Angeles & San Diego
We head south from Los Angeles to San Diego and visit the nationally known Zoo or get wet at Sea World. Rent bicycles, rollerblades and surfboards at the beach or just relax in the sun. So slap on the sunblock, don the big shades and soak up some rays. Accommodation: Budget Lodging in twin/multi-share rooms - often same sex.Day 3 & 4, Las Vegas
Continue east into fabulous Las Vegas - the greatest show on earth! Cruise "The Strip" in a super-stretch limo, indulge in an all-you-can eat buffet, take in a show or just watch the amazing crowds, neon signs and attractions that many hotel casinos have to offer. And if that's not enough, take a helicopter flight down The Strip or just gamble the night away in one of the world class casinos. Accommodation: Budget Lodging in twin/multi-share rooms - often same sex.Day 5 & 6, Grand Canyon National Park & Flagstaff
Off to Flagstaff and the neighbouring Grand Canyon National Park, where unfortunately (or fortunately) no photograph or description can prepare you for the inconceivable expanse of space, colour and bewildering shapes you will witness. No matter if you hike, take a scenic flight or simply gaze into it's vastness at sunset, you will be amazed at one of the world's greatest natural wonders. Accommodation: Budget Lodging in twin/multi-share rooms - often same sex.Day 7 & 8, Monument Valley & Taos
Venturing further into the desert southwest we explore Monument Valley, home of the Navajo Indians where massive buttes, mesas and breathtaking sunrises can be viewed. Learn about their fascinating past while exploring the area on an optional Navajo-guided jeep tour and mix with the Native Americans while purchasing their handcrafted goods before heading out for an overnight stop in Taos. Accommodation: Budget Lodging in twin/multi-share rooms - often same sex.Day 11 & 12, Austin, Texas & Louisiana
Journey east through Texas to the youthful town of Austin. From hiking and biking to outdoor festivals and endless shopping, this city is packed with "Texas sized" excitement! We then say goodbye to Texas and head into Louisiana. Maybe an early night to prepare ourselves for the next destination? Accommodation: Budget Lodging in twin/multi-share rooms - often same sex.Day 13 & 14, New Orleans
Then to New Orleans with all it's charm and character. Ride a steamboat on the Mississippi River, sample Cajun food, relax to the sounds of a Jazz or Dixieland band in the French Quarter and join the ongoing party on Bourbon Street. New Orleans has more than just food, drink and music to offer. Join a swamp tour into the alligator habitat of southern Louisiana, to view all sorts of wildlife on the mysterious bayous of Cajun country. Accommodation: Budget Lodging in twin/multi-share rooms - often same sex.Day 17 & 18, Nashville & Virginia
Off to the center of American music in Nashville, Tennessee - the shining star of the country music scene. Hit The District - centre of city nightlife - laze in the parks, trawl the malls or learn to country dance - cowboy boots or sequinned denim, anyone? Next, touch down in the Appalachian Mountain Range and pound the gorgeous trails through pine-clad foothills. Accommodation: Budget Lodging in twin/multi-share rooms - often same sex.Day 19-21, Washington DC & New York area
Crossing the Appalachian Mountains, we arrive at the Nation's Capital, Washington DC, and a perfect introduction to the cultural and political history of the United States. Want to know a secret? Go undercover at the International Sky Museum. Timetable a stop at Union Station, make tracks to the zoo, then see where big-hitting political animals shape the nation on an included monument tour. We then head to the New York area for the end of our fantastic three week coast to coast adventure. Accommodation: Budget Lodging in twin/multi-share rooms - often same sex. Tour ends at 18:00 hrs in the New York area on day 21.Day 9 & 10, Carlsbad Caverns National Park & Texas
Carlsbad Caverns National Park is next up and time to explore one of the largest cave systems in the World. Gnarled limestone stalagmites like the Witch's Finger reach upwards, while stalactites in the Bell Cord Room hang from the cavern ceilings. We then head into Texas where the Lone Star State bids you a big-hearted welcome. Accommodation: Budget Lodging in twin/multi-share rooms - often same sex.Day 15 & 16, Memphis
Head to Memphis, the Birthplace of the Blues. Strolling along Beale Street must be on your checklist to see the influences that Blues and Jazz music has had on America.
