Sri Lanka Travel Guide – Accommodation
Sri Lanka, like its mix of Low Country, Mid Country and Up Country has a conglomeration of hotels categorised under Hotels, Guest Houses, Rest Houses and Paying Guest Accomodation.
The GH, RH and PGA’s are the cheapest but not necessarily comparable in quality and price. So you need to think it out carefully. Bargain, especially ask for the ubiquitous 10% service charge to be waived, it works most times.
Buy the comprehensive Ceylon Tourist Board-issued pocket-size 155 page Accomodation Guide at the International Airport and you’ll know what I mean. The guide (printed separately for each season) and a map of Colombo (to know where to locate yourself in Colombo) is all you need ‘cos it is a small city really and easily manageable. There’s nothing ‘iffy’ about this succinct document except its quoted tariffs in the case of the GH, RH and PGA’s.
