This is the area that will change every month. There are a couple of ways to develop your guide:
These points also apply if someone is already doing a guide to your area. A different perspective is always valuable, so don’t be shy.
Headers to label each section are helpful. It keeps the readers focused and helps them better understand with a quick glance what your online guide contains. Headers like this..
Events in August
1. Festival of Colors
2. It’s warm out, so…
New Restaurant in Town
A new restaurant just opened…great clams and biscuits!
Peoplewatching
The Buckystar Cafe offers great views of all sorts. Have a Latte, Latte, Skim Frapachino Latte and watch these folks do their thing.
The 3 headers above are just examples. Choose ones that suit you and help describe a part of your report in a glance.
Submitting Your Article
Articles can be emailed to me at Hydrolix@BootsnAll.com as a Word document attachment or as the body of the email. You may also be able save this template as an HTML file onto your computer and type your article straight in; if you have an HTML editor.
The Deadline
The deadline for submissions is the 25th of the previous month. Meaning April 25th for a May article, May 25th for June, etc. Submissions can be sent by email or Word document attachment to an email.
Images
2 or 3 images (pictures) to go with your article would be great. You can have more, but they would need to be smaller.
How to Pull an Image of the Web
If you don’t have a scanner, but you know of places on the web that have images you’d like to include……right-click your mouse button over the image, select “save image as…” and send it as an attachment with your article. Please make every effort to give credit to the photographer/website.
Link Your Website
If you have your own website, we’d be happy to link it to your article. Just give us your URL with your article.
With your help, we’d like to build an online travel guide to your city/region. A collection of articles that provide excellent info for someone new to the area.
Check out the Eugene Travel Guide as an example.
Most importantly….HAVE FUN!!!
