It’s OK to Travel with a Bathrobe #8: Just a day like any other – Europe
Just a day like any other
| 6:20 | I wake up to take a pic of the sunrise. Too early, I forgot about the time change, go back to bed. |
| 7:00 | Missed it again today, damn! |
| 9:00 | Wake up definitely, take a shower. Score: hit my head against the sink only once (improving). Left the toilet lid open, flushed it with the paper roll inside. |
| 9:00 | Have a classic breakfast, coffee and cigarettes. |
| 9:30 | Think about Nakrat. |
| 9:45 | Decide to put an end to it. Decide to maybe give it a go. |
| 10:15 | Lay in the sun. Drop a bucket of salt water over myself every 10 minutes. No sunscreen. No hat. |
| 12:00 | Prepare lunch, I’m all burnt and have a headache from being on the deck for so long. Luckily, I find a full bottle of lotion. |
| 14:00 | Wake up after siesta on the cockpit, use the rest of the aftersun bottle I opened before and then stand up forever while the skin drinks all that cream. |
| 14:30 | Write some. |
| 14:40 | Take one more picture of the sunset, and dry the camera for half an hour. I discovered, evenings are a lot more moist on the sea. |
| 14:50 | After elaborating a thesis on the subject Nakrat from all possible angles, decide to finish it. |
| 15:00 | Forget the thesis momentarily. Can’t wait to see if he wrote me an email. |
| 18:30 | Stop writing, too much concentration, too many waves, feel sick. |
| 18:35 | Almost puked overboard but held myself back. |
| 19:30 | Still feel sick, gotta prove to these two that I’m not. Hide my green face in my cabin until it passes. |
| 20:00 | Cook dinner, waves still high, the pie drops upside down on the oven as I try to take it out. This is what happens when you are too proud to ask for help. Put it back together, it lost a bit of shape but looks fine. |
| 21:00 | They lick their fingers with the pie. They ask me what’s in it. I don’t tell them the secret touch. |
| 21:30 | Practise my balance and reflexes exercises while cleaning the kitchen. Score: The mayonnaise came flying out of the fridge again but this time I caught it in the air. I’m getting better. Got my fingers stuck between the swinging stove and the wall, though. Had to wait till another wave let me take them out. |
| 21:45 | Read my book. |
| 22:30 | Play a PC game. |
| 23:00 | Read again. |
| 23:30 | Write Christmas cards that will get there by Easter. |
| 24:00 | Go to bed. |
| 24:05 | Bedtime Decisions with Carmen, my late night show these days. Special guest, of course, Nakrat. It’s obviously over, it’s pointless, it would never work, I’ll find someone, he’ll find someone, it won’t be the same, second parts are never good, it’s too risky, but he’s sooo… |
| 24:30 | Remember something funny he told me and laugh loudly on my own. |
| 24:35 | A knock on my door to ask if I’m ok. |
| 24:40 | I miss him. |
| 24:50 | Fall asleep. |
