Soul Surfer in Europe #1: The Plan

Saturday, April 29th
It seems like it was so long ago when I started planning this trip but in actuality, compared to others, it’s been very short. My plan started one Saturday morning when I woke up to the phone ringing in my ear after being out all night. Jonathan is a close friend of mine and while we were talking, something hit me like a ton of bricks. I realized right then and there that I had to get out of the country and see the world.

From that point on it’s been a very difficult plan but I have stuck to it. Amsterdam will be my starting point and the rest I am leaving up to fate. I have heard stories about how people plan for months and nothing goes as planned. Seeing as how I am a fly-by-night tattood pierced wildman, I decided to do as little planning as possible.

Do yourself a favor get a chat program on the net and correspond with people from the country you plan on visiting. It helps….plus it’s a good way to make friends to hang with while you’re there.

Oh yeah, almost forgot. You’re probably asking, “Well, is Jonathan or anyone else going?”……well the answer to that is no. I have decided to fly solo on this. I’m 26 and it’s time to figure out where I fit into this big planet picture.

I could go into how much this is costing and what I have bought, but in my experience if you want something bad enough until it eats at your very soul like it did mine, cost is not important. But do let me tell you this: don’t estimate the cost by looking at what it cost everyone else. Everyone is different and so will be the cost!!!!!!

Have fun reading my crazy journal while I chase little Dutch women and wear the soles off my boots!
