I promised I was going to give you all a lowdown on the redlight scene. Well, here it is….
The reason why they call it the redlight district is simply because scantily clad women stand in their windows with red neon lights around them. You can walk down the street and hear guys whistling and taunting the women. They have all types too black, white, Polish, German, Russian…all kids…most are sold to the industry either by drugs or just a way to stay in western Europe.
I followed two guys from Florida around just watching them haggle with the whores…it was quite entertaining. I have such a moral problem with buying one…don’t think I could do it…we Americans put such a stigmatism on prostitution and paying for sex that it is engraved in my mind. Funny story though…
This red haired kinda geeky guy from Florida was set on paying for a whore so I watched him work. He walked around for quite a while “window shopping” for just the right one. Finally, after a while he picked a very nice blonde. OK, here comes some graphical parts so you women may wanna stop reading here…..
He went inside the door and the curtain closed behind him. When he came out he had this look of bewilderment on his face. I asked him “Hey, what’s wrong? Was it that bad?”
He said “No, it was a shock. I walked in and she instantly put a condom on me then performed oral sex then we went straight to intercourse. After about 5 minutes she asked me…’Can you try your best now?’”.
What an ego crasher!!! I laughed my ass off for quite some time. Here is this little geeky redheaded guy who just spent 100 guilders to have a woman crush his manly stature!! That was enough to convince me that this was definitely not something I was gonna waste my
guilders on.
Other than that there are other reasons to visit the redlight district. There is a bar called the “Banana Bar”. You can only imagine what they do there. It cost about 75 guilders, but for free right outside you can watch a monitor and see what’s going on inside which is what I did.
Another place is the Bulldog Cafe. I spent a few hours there, people watching and staring in amazement at a two foot long bud off a marijuana plant in a glass case. There are also several live sex shows there to if your willing to spend the guilders. I myself don’t think I wanna drop all my guilders there; I have better things to buy.
When I get back I plan on writing a detailed report on the redlight district, along with some pictures to go with this travelogue.
