John Barth was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. Maybe owing to his hometown’s nickname as the “Crossroad of America,” John felt he had to set out to see the rest of the country before he settled down. He attended college at Regis University in Denver, went to graduate school at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and hung out in Providence, Rhode Island, before making his return to Indy in the winter of 2001.
Along the way John worked hard to ensure that his interest in international travel was never smothered by his wayward lifestyle. Over the years he has traveled to places as varied as Peru, England, the Czech Republic, and Kenya.
Now happily married and living back home in Indiana, John puts his Masters in Social Work to good use as a Research Associate at Indiana University’s Indiana Institute on Disability and Community. Through his position with the University, John has focused his energy on projects such as getting Hoosiers with disabilities more involved in the political process, organizing polling place accessibility campaigns, and writing a booklet describing Indiana’s budget process.

Could be politics, could be a new travel story; either way, John is hard at work on one of his passions. |

In his off-time, John likes to put his efforts into his two passions: politics and writing. John has volunteered for several political campaigns and most recently has been assisting with a judicial campaign in Marion County, Indiana. Finally, John spends a great deal of time writing. His greatest current writing interest is in writing about his various travels in his journal and on BootsnAll.com. In addition, he has written a short film – titled My Life With Sharkey – that he produced in the summer of 2000.
