When to go: Head to Cairns during the fall and winter months when diving is safe and the temperatures are still plenty warm.
City Specific Events: Watch an amateur rugby game, the locals play a mean game. Sometime International Cricket is held in Cairns.
How to get around?: Walking around the city center is the best�most hostels that are outside of the city provide shuttles. Buses are also available.
Good to know: Cairns itself is not all that impressive, but used as more of a gateway to the Barrier Reef and tropical north.
