London Travel Facts

The Basics

City Name: London

Where is it located?: London is in the southeastern part of England.

Why do people go there?: People go to London for the same reason they go to New York City or Paris: How could you not? From classic theatre productions to Jack the Ripper backalley tours, London is a number one destination for everything fun. The conversion to pounds will pinch your wallet – no doubt about that – but it still doesn’t detract the millions of visitors that flock to the red double-decker bus tours and bitch about the 11 pm pub closing time.

How do travelers get there?: Flights from practically anywhere in the world are available. If you’re in France, you can take the channel, but why do it unless it’s for novelties’ sake when flights are so cheap?

How to get around?: Metro is the best way to get around this city – that is, if you’re not walking or riding a big red tour bus.

Good to know: London is one of the biggest financial centers in the world.

Cheapest airport to fly into: The cheapest airports to fly into London are the London Heathrow Airport, London Gatwick Airport and London Stansted Airport. To obtain a cheaper flight, choose the airport that is near your trip destination.
